Just like with the top drama male characters there are too many awesome characters to only list ten. This'll be the case with the rest of the comedy category posts.

After a third season, Malory is consistent in many things: head of spy agency ISIS, mother of spy Sterling Archer, constant drinker and lover of/to important people. In fact, Malory became lovers with the likes of the Italian Prime Minister and Burt Reynolds this past season. Of course her life is complete chaos, not only dealing with her difficult son and difficult employees, but also dealing with personal conflicts like finding the Italian Prime Minister tied to a chair in his underwear and shot dead.

Maw Maw may be the least-used member of the Chance family on Raising Hope, but her scenes are extremely hilarious. Maw Maw is Virginia’s grandmother who owns the house the Chance family lives in. She suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia and only has short periods of lucidity. When she is lucid she usually doesn’t like Burt and wants everyone to move out of her house.

17. Ellie Torres (Christa Miller) on Cougar Town
2010-2011 Rank: Honorable Mention
Jules and Ellie are the unofficial leaders of the cul-de-sac crew. They are self-obsessed and have a strange power over everyone else around them, which includes Jules’s son (Travis), husband (Grayson) and ex-husband (Bobby), Ellie’s husband (Andy) and their friend Laurie. They scheme together and drink wine for breakfast (and lunch and dinner and any other time).

Britta tends to be the butt of a lot of jokes at Greendale. It’s as if everyone looks down on her and her wannabe-hippie beliefs. It is however her personal misconceptions and constant failures that have become the most entertaining. One thing that could be moving in the right direction for her is the possible romance between her and Troy, but that hasn’t developed into anything serious yet.

Considering the series begins with Alex running out on her about to be husband at their wedding, it’s amazing that she has become such a likable character. Alex is probably the most naïve and for lack of a better word “dumbest” of the Happy Endings crew. She constantly is the last one to get jokes or just generally realize anything. What’s ironic though is that she owns her own clothing store and appears to be relatively successful business owner. There were some sparks between her and her former fiancée Dave during the season two finale…interesting.
2010-2011 Rank: 8 (-6)
Penny has always been entertaining as the hot, blonde neighbor to the nerdy boys next door. Her on again, off again relationship with Leonard was a bit less entertaining this past season while it was another female character on the show (Amy Farrah Fowler) who began to overshadow her with the laughs.

For a few years now Sarah has been one of my favorite women on television. She is gorgeous, kicks ass and makes average guys like myself feel like we could get someone like her because she ended up with Chuck. Her drop on these rankings is due to two things. First is the lack of quality of this past and final season of Chuck. The other is the unfortunate categorizing of Chuck as a “comedy” for my rankings. Chuck is part comedy, part action, part drama, part sci-fi, etc. I try to generalize every show as one category for the sake of ranking and decided that Chuck makes me laugh more than anything. It is however more the men of Chuck that are the comedic elements of the show (Chuck, Morgan, Casey, Awesome, Jeffster) where Sarah is more all-around awesomeness. With that being said, there is an incredible amount of brilliantly funny women on television so she falls lower in the comedy rankings. I would still say she was one of my favorite women on television in general and if I do a ranking regarding television hotties she will be near the top.

When I generally talk about characters I love on television I always seem to forget Jenna. She constantly flies under the radar, even when talking about 30 Rock specifically. Tina Fey (Liz Lemon) and Alec Baldwin (Jack Donaghy) get much of the attention, but even the other supporting cast members Tracy Morgan (Tracy Jordan) and Jack McBrayer (Kenneth Parcell) seem to be featured more. I do believe though that without Jane Krakowski’s performance as Jenna, 30 Rock just wouldn’t be the same.

Jane is Alex’s older sister and married to Brad. Jane is a perfectionist and likes to be in control of everything which often leads to hilarious situations. She also likes to be the best at everything. This has led to multiple battles with Max including a series of events to see who could outlast the other in a zombie apocalypse and trying to outlast each other in embarrassing outfits to determine the owner of a sweater.

Though April acts like she doesn’t care about anything (except husband Andy), she certainly has moved up a lot at work. She has gone from intern at the Parks and Rec office to Ron Swanson’s assistant, and now she will be working as assistant to Ben in Washington DC. Though her and Ron are both very complacent and give the appearance of not caring about anything work-related, Ron really took April under her wing and has become a sort of mentor to her. It’ll certainly be fun to watch how April interacts with assumingly over-enthusiastic people in Washington.

Once considered a guest character a couple seasons ago, Amy Farrah Fowler has become one of the most consistently funniest characters among a cast of consistently funny characters. There really is no weak point within the ensemble cast of the Big Bang Theory. Amy has however become the real heart of the show, not only longing for intimacy with Sheldon (who doesn’t like being touched) but also constantly in disbelief that she is friends with someone she thinks is the coolest person ever (Penny). Amy has long struggled to being included in anything social in her life, but she now finds herself among a group of friends no matter how awkward she sometimes often acts.

Sweet D continues to be the only woman within a questionable, ego-centric group of males. After seven seasons you’d think Dee could earn a bit more respect from the rest of the gang, but lucky for us she hasn’t. Much of her hilariousness comes from her constantly fighting with everyone and trying to prove she is a decent person (though she isn’t).
2010-2011 Rank: 9 (-)
Though there are many awesome/funny/beautiful women on this list, if I had to choose one to date it would be Annie. I think I probably said the same thing last year too. Anyway, Annie has really grown into herself more over the last couple of seasons and isn’t quite as naïve anymore. There is still very much an underlying attraction between her and Jeff, but they still have hardly acted upon it. Some think (including Jeff) that she may just be attracted to him because of the older bad-boy persona he puts out, but I’m sure there’s more feelings involved than Jeff wants to let on. For now it’ll continue to be a will they/won’t they situation just like Britta and Troy.

5. Robin Sherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) on How I Met Your Mother
2010-2011 Rank: 5 (-)
Lily and Marshall had a couple of life-altering things occur this season. They settled into a new house in the suburbs and had a baby. Even with that I feel like the focus was on others more than her this past season.
As for Robin, she definitely had a roller coaster year. There were multiple ups and downs for her. It seemed she was featured a bit more this season that last. She started dating her therapist, cheated on him with Barney, agreed with Barney to get back together but then stayed with her boyfriend instead, turned down a proposal from said boyfriend and received a major promotion. The biggest news of course was revealed in a flash-forward in the final scene of the season. Following Barney’s proposal to Quinn the show jumps ahead to sometime in the future at Barney’s wedding where it turns out Robin is the bride.
2010-2011 Rank: New Show
Many of the characters on this list have been around for multiple seasons and have had time to build on their greatness. New Girl quickly became one of the big new hits of this past season and Jess was the centerpiece of that. Though New Girl is a funny show and has an incredibly funny supporting cast, much of the initial credit must be given to Zooey Deschanel. Anything Zooey does is instantly enjoyable (except The Happening) because Zooey is just plain likable. It’s so difficult to feel anything but joy when watching her (except when she’s being chased by killer wind). It was her that brought in the initial viewers, but it will be the show as a whole that develops New Girl into a regular favorite on television.

Another new face on this list is Virginia from Raising Hope. I hadn’t watched season one last year but caught up on it and watched season two as well. Virginia is easily one of the funniest women on television right now. The Chances are poor and the house they live in includes Virginia’s grandmother, husband, son and granddaughter. Virginia isn’t the brightest person in the world, but she is truly genuine and loving of her family.
2010-2011 Rank: 6 (+4)
Liz finally found a steady boyfriend this past season in Criss (James Marsden), who owns a hot dog van and has moved in with Liz. Other than that, things are pretty much the same for Liz as they have been for six seasons. This next season will be the last for 30 Rock. Will Liz finally settle down with a man and possibly become a parent?
2010-2011 Rank: 1 (-)
The main focus of Parks and Rec this past season was on Leslie’s campaign for city council in Pawnee. There were many challenges for her, including splitting time with the Parks and Recreation office, being forced to break up with her boyfriend Ben cause they work together, dealing with Ben quitting his job so they can be together, campaigning against the incompetent son of a wealthy business owner who is able to buy the voters’ support and everything else that comes her way. In the end she wins the election.
Next Five:
21. Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown) on Community
22. Dallas Royce (Cheryl Hines) on Suburgatory
23. Reagan Brinkly (Christina Applegate) on Up All Night
24. CeCe (Hannah Simone) on New Girl
25. Donna Meagle (Retta) on Parks and Recreation
