10. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) on Once Upon A Time 2012-2013 Rank: 7 (-3) I quite enjoyed the trio of lead women on Once Upon A Time this past season, but I'll give Emma the bump. She had some fun adventures this season, including spending time in Never Land (with several others), almost losing her son to Pan, losing the father of her son, losing her memories of Storybrooke, regaining her memories of Storybrooke, battling the Wicked Witch, travelling back in time with Hook and almost wiping herself from existence and finally accepting that she has fallen for Hook. It was a busy season to say the least. |
9. Nora (Kristen Hager) on Being Human 2012-2012 Rank: 9 (-) It is always sad to see a favorite show go, and Being Human is just that (one of two SyFy favorites this season). Nora is an interesting character. The show stars and promotes three main characters (a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost) living together in a house. Nora appeared early in the first season and quickly became star 3.5 of the show. In the final season, her and Josh had some post-wedding troubles that led to Nora almost leaving. In the end they end up happily married with two children, Aiden and Sally. |
8. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) on Game of Thrones 2012-2013 Rank: 1 (-7) Daenerys has stalled her march to the Iron Throne for a little while. While travelling through various lands where slavery is prominent, she has decided to free all slaves. In turn, she has amassed a sizable army, not to mention her three dragons that have grown quite big. She has taken up residence in one location for now and trying to become more important to "her" people so she can be a respected leader when she conquers King's Landing. She did have a couple large challenging moments, first having to leash her dragons because they were causing too much damage to her people. Second, losing her most trusted ally Jorah Mormont because she found out he originally came to Daenerys to spy on her and her brother. He had since regret that decision and has been very loyal, but she would not have it. |
7. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) on Game of Thrones 2012-2013 Rank: 6 (-1) I am really starting to feel bad for Arya. I guess I always have, but things just keep getting worse. It is quite difficult being a Stark right now. Arya is just surrounded by tragedy. This season she finally made it to the Eyrie where The Hound was taking her for reward money (and her safety), but when they arrive at the gates they find out her aunt has just died. They soon run into Brienne of Tarth and Poderick who recognize them. Arya doesn't trust them and so The Hound and Brienne duel. Eventually The Hound and Arya escape, but The Hound is mortally wounded. Arya lost yet another male mentor (her father, her sword instructor, etc). Arya continues to grow darker, having even made her first kill (someone on her list). She found her way on a ship to Braavos and is not heading there. |
6. Michonne (Danai Gurira) on The Walking Dead 2012-2013 Rank: 11 (+7) Michonne used to feel like an outsider within the group, but since everything that happened with Woodbury and the Governor, including losing her friend Andrea. At the prison, Michonne took to befriend Carl and helped him to smile a bit for the first time since losing his mother. Michonne and Hershel were eventually captured by the Governor, who was plotting to destroy their group. After the attack on the prison, Michonne was separated from the group but later found herself back to Rick and Carl. By the end of the season, they were tricked and captured by cannibals pretending to be a sanctuary, along with much of the rest of their group. |
5. Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) on Game of Thrones 2012-2013 Rank: 10 (+5) As mentioned above, Brienne had been travelling north with Poderick when she ran into The Hound and Arya. She had left King's Landing in search of Sansa Stark, hoping to bring her some sort of safety. It was difficult to leave Jamie Lannister, who she seems to have fallen in love with. He provided her with a gift before she left...a sword forged from Ned Stark's. She promised to use it, which she dubbed "Oathkeeper" to protect the Starks children if she found them. |
4. Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) on Warehouse 13 3. Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) on Warehouse 13 2012-2013 Rank: 5 (+1), 2 (-1) The final season of Warehouse 13 was sadly too short (6 episodes) and some decisions about the final season I still remain unsure about. Otherwise, the series ended well enough leaving things open-ended to leave you wondering what happens next. The seems appropriate considering the warehouse (and the show) focuses on a world of endless wonder. We do find out that Claudia eventually becomes caretaker of the warehouse, though we don't know when. Myka appears to maybe end up with Pete, but I guess we'll never really know. |
2. Sally Malik (Meghan Rath) on Being Human 2012-2013 Rank: 3 (+1) The final season of Being Human took an interesting turn for Sally. She absorbed the power to perform spells and started doing so, but every time she did she would get thrown into the past for a period of time. Each time this occurred the time Sally was stuck grew longer. It reached a point where she seemed permanently stuck. She decided to change her past and fell in love with Aiden (though she probably always was deep down). She does find her way back to her original timeline with much confusion after spending years in a different existence. In the end, Sally and Aiden both die and end up together in eternity. |
1. Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) on Haven 2012-2013 Rank: 4 (+3) Audrey is really an impressive person. She is battling with the fact that she does not know who she really is all while doing her best to maintain order in a town filled with "troubled" people. To start this past season, she appeared out of the cabin with people ready to kill her. She somehow thought quick enough on her feet to pretend she was someone else, which worked (long story). She is not finding out that in her past she was more of an evil person in a previous iteration. In case you don't know, Audrey appears in Haven every few decades in order to deal with the Troubles. Every time she does, she is a different person with no recollection of the past. It was a season filled with answers to some of the long-standing questions regarding Audrey's existence, but there is still plenty to come. |
