10. Paige Jennings (Holly Taylor) on The Americans 2014-2015 Rank: 25 (+15) If anyone has changed the most over the course of the series of The Americans, it is definitely Paige. I suppose that shouldn't be a surprise as she is a teenager who recently discovered her parents are actually Russian spies who have been living a lie in the United States since before she was born. Paige understandably struggled with it at first, and continues to struggle. But she has come a long way even in the short time she's known the secret of her parents. She mistakenly confided in her Pastor, who has so far kept the secret between them and his wife. |
9. Eva (Robin McLeavy) on Hell On Wheels 2014-2015 Rank: 8 (-1) A lot has changed on Hell On Wheels going into the last (2-part) season. The lead character, Cullen Bohannon, left the railroad to look for his wife and child. Of course he ended up working on a different railroad, but still having left the focus of the show shifted locations a bit. It would eventually bring us back to the rest of the characters we've followed throughout the series, including Eva. Eva now is a den mother of sorts, helping run the whore house with Mickey McGinnis. Eva is doing everything she can to secure a stable future. |
8. Fong (Angela Zhou) on Hell On Wheels 2014-2015 Rank: NEW CHARACTER Continuing with Hell On Wheels is a new character. Fong appears on the female list, though everyone (except her father and Bohannon) thinks she's a boy. Fong is disguised as a boy so she can work and not be subject to the challenges of being a Chinese woman in the railroad camp. Bohannon discovered her secret but being the man that he is, has kept the secret to protect her. They appear to have a growing bond as well, especially after Fong's father is killed. |
7. Darlene (Carly Chaikin) on Mr. Robot 2014-2015 Rank: NEW SHOW Darlene is one of the hackers in the FSociety group on Mr. Robot. We see Elliot befriend her as he enters the world of FSociety. It is difficult to fully grasp everything that is happening and why on the show, which is expected, but Darlene acts as a sort of constant for Elliot through his downward spiral. It isn't until later that we learn Darlene is actually Elliot's sister and he struggles to remember her due to his mental condition. |
6. Julianna Crain (Alexa Davalos) on The Man In The High Castle 2014-2015 Rank: NEW SHOW As we enter the world of The Man In The High Castle, we learn it is a world in which the Allies lost World War 2 and the Nazis and Japanese have split possession of the United States. Julianna Crane lives in the Japanese-occupied San Francisco where she has lived a mostly normal life. That is until she is thrust into the underground world of the Resistance due to her sister, who was a member, being murdered in front of her eyes. Julianna completes her sister's current mission, to deliver a mysterious film to the Resistance located in the Neutral Zone in the Rocky Mountains. While there she meets and befriends Joe Blake, who is an undercover Nazi agent from New York. As the first season progresses, Julianna learns more about the Resistance, though discovers many more questions by watching one of the films. By the end of the season, she is working for the Japanese Trade Minister and becoming more involved with the Resistance. All while her boyfriend Frank is on his own journey to fight the Japanese and Nazis. |
5. Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum) on Shameless 2014-2015 Rank: 6 (+1) Like every character on Shameless, Fiona has gone through many ups and downs throughout the series. This past season felt like it was mostly up. She stared dating her boss Sean and planned on getting married by the end of the episode. But Fiona's Dad Frank was determined to ruin their relationship as Sean was not afraid to stand up to Frank. Unfortunately for Fiona, Frank did in fact find out that Sean was still a drug addict and called him out on it on their wedding day. Sadly that is probably the end of Fiona and Sean. |
4. Galina 'Red' Reznikov (Kate Mulgrew) on Orange Is The New Black 2014-2015 Rank: 4 (-) I had though going into this past season that there would be a rivalry between Red and newcomer Judy King. Red has always been the big hen in the kitchen and Judy King is a celebrity chef. But that didn't really happen. Red is still a big fish at Litchfield. It started out that way, but dissolved quickly as Red turned her attention to Alex and her crisis. A former associate of Alex's snuck into the prison as a guard and tried to kill her, but Alex killed him first in self-defense. When the body turns up in Red's garden, Red is suspect number 0ne. The head of the guards Piscatella tortures Red, and between that and the death of Poussey, the inmates come together at the end of the season to protest the new guards. |
3. Samantha Groves/Root (Amy Acker) 2. Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) on Person Of Interest 2014-2015 Rank: 1 (-2), 2 (-) After four straight years of women of Person Of Interest being number 1 on this list, they no longer reign supreme. Of course the two Person Of Interest women here are #2 and #3, so not really much of a fall. In the final season of Person Of Interest, Shaw spent much of the time captured and tormented by the Samaritan group. They were trying to convert her to their side by running simulation after simulation to show her she would have to kill her friends and join them. But Shaw is strong and manages to survive and escape, eventually rejoining with her friends. While all of this was occurring, Root was doing everything she could to protect their Machine and try to find and rescue Shaw simultaneously. They would eventually be reunited, only to have Root lose her life. The Machine however took on the voice of Root, keeping her "alive" in a sense to Shaw and the remaining members of the group. |
1. Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) on The Americans 2014-2015 Rank: 3 (+2) Elizabeth Jennings is such an interesting character. She is a Russian spy who has been long undercover with her husband in the United States. But as their children get older and her husband Phillip questions their missions, she has become more emotional. She had a couple major challenges the past season. First, Elizabeth and Phillip told their daughter Paige that they are Russian spies. She knows that if the secret is exposed, they would go to jail forever and lose their children. So she must build a new, adult relationship with her teenage daughter. Elizabeth also had a mission to befriend a woman whose husband worked for a government lab. The goal was to eventually get access to US technology secrets through the husband. She truly became good friends with the woman and when the time came to complete the mission, she severely struggled with the idea of losing her only good friend. |
