I went home for the holidays and my Dad owns one. My youngest brother Ben had just made a few batches of jerky just before I got there and I was eating it all week thinking about how I want my own. Fortunately for me I have an amazing girlfriend and she bought me one! Of course I like to remind her that she bought "us" one since she will get to benefit from all the food that I'll make with it.
Last weekend I decided to put it right to use. I went out and purchased some thin steaks. I cut them up into smaller strips and separated them into three Ziploc bags. I thought it would be fun to try a few different flavors for my first attempt. I simply used things from my fridge and didn't mix products. One batch was some basic barbecue sauce, the second a bourbon peppercorn marinade and the third Tiger Sauce.
