In the last several years, Liam Neeson has been turning into more of an action star. He’ll be running and gunning again, though this time in closed quarters, in this year’s Non-Stop. The film, which co-stars Julianne Moore, stars Neeson as an Air Marshall who has to deal with a killer on an airplane. The problem is the killer is anonymous and tormenting Neeson’s character and the rest of the crew. So what if it’s unlikely, it still makes a good action/suspense film.
I wrote about The Monuments Men last year on my Most Anticipated list, but it was pushed out to 2014. The film is based on true events of a group of non-military men sent into World War II Europe in order to find and protect works of art before they are captured and destroyed by the Nazis. The stellar cast includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett while also directed by Clooney.
Brad Pitt stars as an Army commander with a small group of men caught behind enemy lines during World War II. This sounds a bit familiar, as Pitt played a similar role in a similar setting for Inglorious Basterds. This does sound a bit different, but as not much information has been released, it is hard to say how much. However, World War II plus Brad Pitt plus and“Against All Odds” situation + action should equal a fun movie.
You may not recognize him without crazy costume and make-up…Johnny Depp has shed his eccentricities for a technological thriller that is definitely intriguing. Depp plays a researcher in the area of Artificial Intelligence. His goal is to develop a self-sufficient supercomputer with both knowledge and emotions. Eventually he ends up becoming a part of the computer and turns into a seemingly unstoppable and dangerous force.
I haven’t seen the first of this Spider-Man reboot series yet, but I am still quite interested in the sequel. The trailer looks good and the villains look interesting. It appears there will be multiple villains attempting to take down Spider-Man, but again I haven’t seen the original so I’m not entirely sure if there’s a reason why. Jamie Foxx as Electro is especially cool looking, though I’m a bit uneasy regarding Paul Giamatti as Rhino. Of course Giamatti generally makes me feel uneasy, so maybe that’s his forte.
