When Monty Python disbanded, Idle, like everyone else in the group, found other ways to hone his comedy. He created the fictional Beatles-spoof band The Rutles in the 70’s, which launched television appearances and two mockumentaries. He also wrote novels and released music albums. Idle maintained exposure in Hollywood too, appearing in films like Nuns on the Run, National Lampoon’s European Vacation, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Splitting Heirs and several others. Idle has also lent his talents to Disney, appearing in Honey, I Shrunk the Audience! and the Journey to Imagination ride at Epcot Center.
Eric Idle continues to be a presence in entertainment and I am happy to wish the youngest Python a happy 69th birthday!
