Though Jeff is still very narcissistic and egotistical, he has become much more humble and caring since Community started three seasons ago. He cares very much about his close friends/study group though he doesn’t like to show it much. We also found out he can do an awesome Dean Pelton impression during the Hearts of Darkness-themed episode.

Dave is the owner of a food truck called Steak Me Home Tonight and has a penchant for V-Necks. The series began with him being ditched at the altar by Alex but they have since become friends. Dave considers himself the cool guy of the group but everyone else just sees him as “their Dave.” Poor Dave…I think he’s pretty darn cool.

Kenneth had his most diverse season yet. He left the NBC Page program and got a job in an office at NBC. That proved to be too ruthless for him and he later became a janitor. Kenneth finds joy in keeping people happy, especially Tracy Jordan, and he has managed to do that while being a janitor. He has also gotten into a bit of a rivalry with his page replacement Hazel, who happens to be crazier than he is.

Brad is married to Jane Kerkovich and they are incredibly in love with each other. Sometimes their PDA is a bit over the top, especially considering they’re banned from several restaurants in Chicago for being caught having sex in the bathrooms. Brad had a tough end of the year when he lost his job in the finale. This next season he should be able to pick himself up and find a new job. Maybe he’ll end up helping out Dave in his food truck or Max and his limo service until he finds something more serious.

There is no one as smooth-talking as Marty Kaan on television. Marty works for a management consultant firm and he is the best at talking big companies into paying him to improve their business. He is like a legal con-artist. He leads and mentors his team which includes three young consultants. One of his biggest battles is dealing with his ex-wife and mother of his son who works for a rival firm.

It wouldn’t be a season of How I Met Your Mother without Ted confessing his love to someone. This season he re-affirmed his love for his friend and roommate Robin. She refused and it led to Ted getting his own apartment. Ted sort of took over for Barney as the single guy of the group due to Barney first dating Nora, then longing to be back with Robin, then dating Quinn and finally proposing to Quinn. Ted still could never be as sleazy as Barney but at least he’s been having some fun. The end of the season found Ted at his worst when he reconnected with his former girlfriend Victoria on the day of her wedding and they are currently in the process of running away together.

The final season of Chuck was overall a disappointment. Even Casey who is reliably a great character was a bit off his game. The truth to Casey is that he became a bit too soft this season. It’s been great to see him open up more and express minimal feelings, but it became too much for Casey standards. He’s still awesome and I’ll always consider him an all-time favorite character on television, but as this one season goes in comparison to other characters he definitely dipped like all the other characters on Chuck.

After spending the first few episodes of the season missing from ISIS while dealing with pirates and such, Archer returned to his usual spy ways. Though he is quite immature and cares mostly about money, women and alcohol, he still manages to be a successful spy.

In a shortened season, Jack cut the NBC page program, brought it back, tried to scare Liz’s new boyfriend away, eventually accepted said boyfriend, discovered romantic feelings for his mother-in-law while his wife was imprisoned in North Korea, helped get his wife back from North Korea, decide to renew their vows, then when no one objects at the ceremony they freak out and admit they only got married because of the baby and decide to divorce on the spot.

Since the addition of Amy Farrah Fowler to the cast, Sheldon has had a new dynamic to work with and build on. This is of course very important for shows that are on for long periods of time. Sheldon continues to be a genius with social problems, but Amy has really forced him to be out of his comfort zone at times. He still hasn’t allowed himself to be completely vulnerable around her (to her dismay), but it is obvious that he is becoming a bit less cautious.

Max, like his roommate Dave, owns his own wheeled business. Max purchased a vintage limousine with the help of some Beanie Baby sales and now makes money driving people around. He is also a very straight gay man. He is many jock-like qualities while also being very lazy and sloppy. The end of the season saw Max reuniting with his former band Mandonna, one of two Chicago-based all-male Madonna cover bands, for a friend’s wedding.

As far as new male characters of television comedies go this year, Schmidt is definitely the cream of the crop. This is backed up by the fact that he was just nominated for a Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Emmy. He is in tough company with the intimidating four men of Modern Family and the incredibly versatile Bill Hader of SNL. Schmidt is narcissistic and very much interested in material things. He does however have a heart of gold and can be a sweet guy when he’s not in full Schmidt mode. He legitimately has all of the funniest lines of New Girl and is the highlight of an already awesome cast.

Burt is married to Virginia, has one son Jimmy (who impregnated a serial killer and now has a daughter) and lives in his grandmother-in-law’s house. Burt owns his own landscaping company and works hard to provide for his family. Like the rest of his family he is not the brightest of people, but he does have an incredible heart.

Due to his oddly genius ability to repair things, Troy was heavily pursued by the dean of the air conditioning repair school at Greendale this past season. Troy also had a small falling out with his best friend Abed that resulted in a campus-wide pillow fight war and an awesome war documentary-themed episode. There has been continuous sexual tension between Troy and Britta that they haven’t acted upon yet aside from some prolonged hugs and some looks between each other. Chances are they will at some point get together. He also got to show off his rapping skills (which Donald Glover does outside of the show under the pseudonym Childish Gambino) during the Glee-themed episode.

Though Ron still puts on his “I don’t care” face when it comes to the workplace, he really stepped in a lot to help Leslie this year. As she was running for city council she was not able to run the Parks and Recreation department like she normally does. We were fortunate enough to meet Ron’s first ex-wife Tammy One as well as his mother Tammy Zero. Ron will have a lot of change to deal with this next season as two of his favorite people will be doing other things. Leslie is now on the city council and April is going to DC to work for Ben.

Marshall and Lily had a life-changing year with moving to the suburbs, having a baby and Marshall getting his dream job as an environmental lawyer. During the baby shower, Marshall freaked out and went to Atlantic City with Barney. While there Lily went into labor and since he was really drunk he made a deal with Barney that if they made it in time for his baby’s birth, Barney could pick the middle name. Marshall and Lily now have a beautiful baby boy named Marvin Wait-for-It Eriksen.

Abed reached a whole new level of awesomeness this past season on Community. In the past Abed found ways of breaking unconventional television rules. He delivered a baby as a background story of an episode that could have easily been missed, he referenced being an extra on the show Cougar Town, and then he later appeared as an extra in character on Cougar Town (which is on a different network). This season was different though. It all started with an episode that found Abed questioning what would happen in various timelines if each person left the room to pay for a delivered pizza. This led to the appearance of a dark timeline with an Evil Abed. Then there was the episode where Greendale tried to make a commercial and Abed filmed the entire experience as a documentary. It could be observed that perhaps he was reaching out to us, the audience of Community. Finally Evil Abed re-emerged and took over Abed briefly. The best thing is all of this happened without the other characters really noticing. These are high concept themes that may not be as accessible to a general audience. Community is doing things that haven’t been done before. Sadly that usually means small audiences since the masses can’t grasp the genius of it.

The season started by showing the audience that sometime in the near future Barney would be getting married, but the bride was left a mystery. Barney had a very challenging year for his love life. He has gone from the lovable womanizer to the lovable former womanizer who is more willing to be vulnerable with a woman. First there was a bit of tension between Barney and his ex Robin. Then Barney dated Nora for a while. He later cheated on her with Robin. Barney and Robin later decided to break up with their significant others to be with each other. Barney did and to his heartbreaking surprise Robin did not. The Barney met and fell for a stripper named Quinn. At the end of the season Barney very epically proposed to Quinn in an airport security room with the use of magic. It was of course right after that when the audience was brought back to that future wedding and discovered that Robin is the bride.

25. Nick (Nick M. Johnson) on New Girl
