To be fair, my personal year wasn't all that bad. The pandemic was awful and there were plenty of other disspointing things that happend, but one of the bigger and happier moments of my life did occur this past year. My wife and I had our first (and probably only) baby, born in February. So even though things have been really tough this year on a global scale, we were fortunate enough to welcome our daughter and spend lots of time at home with her in our little bubble.
Because I was so preoccupied with figuring out how to become a parent, I didn't have all the free time so many others found themselves with while being stuck at home for months. There were so many stories of people picking up new hobbies, rediscovering former interests, reading more books, watching more TV, and so on. I don't regret how I spent my time at home in 2020, it has been such an incredible experience. But I also wouldn't mind having some free time to jump into interests. After all, I have always been one for hobbies. That's sort of how this website first came together so many years ago now. It was a way to try to focus in on some of my many interests and share my love of those things.
Getting back on here is a way for me to rediscover that. There is no reason why I can't start to write again. I have new ideas, and plenty of old ones, for things I would like to try to do. I want to try to write and share again as well. And there's not better time than a new year to give yourself new goals.
My first plan is to redesign this website. I will try to work on that over the next few weeks. Then we'll see what other things I can come up with. I look forward to these new adventures, being a parent and still finding love of other things as well.
